Cruise Excursion: Salmon Bake in Juneau, Alaska
However, salmon only took one try for me to fall in love. I went right for the best. I was on a 7-Day Cruise on the Celebrity Constellation in Alaska. My friend’s grandparents signed us up for the Gold Creek Salmon Bake excursion in Juneau, Alaska. I was worried as I didn’t want to seem ungrateful as I didn’t eat salmon but thought that I’d just try it. Till this day, it was still some of the best salmon I’ve ever had. The fresh salmon was grilled to perfection with a brown-sugar glaze on top.
The Celebrity Cruises website describes the Gold Creek Salmon Bake excursion as, “The Gold Creek Salmon Bake is an event that's been grilled to perfection for more than 30 years. Savor an all-you-can-eat adventure, in a unique outdoor setting you'll find nowhere else...Savor the aroma of wild salmon, grilling slowly over fires of fragrant alder wood. “
As the Alaska cruise season draws near, I’d definitely recommend looking into a food adventure in Alaska. It’s a great compliment if you plan on doing dog sled rides, a hike, or zip-lining in other ports and want a more relaxed day. If salmon isn’t for you, there are also food excursions that focus on crab or even having a “seafeast” (crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn, & sausage all cooked in one pot!).
As always, do your research on finding the one that best fits your needs and likes as everyone’s tastes are different. Do you have a favorite food excursion you’ve been on?
FreshCruiser Tip: When it comes to salmon, eat up! Salmon is a healthy entree option as it's a good source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Look for it on your next cruise ship's dining menu.
